How a European Removal Works
Understanding Post-Brexit Customs
Since 1 January 2021, the UK is outside the EU customs union. Moving household goods from the UK to an EU country is now treated as an international export — requiring UK customs clearance and EU import clearance.
The good news is that most EU countries offer removal relief (also called transfer of residence relief) — allowing your personal belongings to be imported duty-free, provided you meet residency criteria and can provide the correct documentation.
